Carbine 1

Who Class This Is For: Carbine rifle owners who want to take the first step beyond basic target shooting and begin leaning tactical & defensive shooting with their carbine. 

Prerequisite: None

Carbine 1 is an introduction to rifle manipulation and marksmanship. This class will start with the proper manipulation/handling of your firearm and build up to defensive shooting drills on single targets. You will learn the fundamentals of safety and marksmanship and have the opportunity to practice efficiency with your rifle and move into live fire. We will cover the proper cleaning and maintenance of your rifle.  Both dry fire (w/o bullets) and live fire (w/bullets) will be used to learn all the fundamentals of marksmanship.

  • How to engage targets from 3 to 25 yard distances

  • How to "sight-in" both iron sights & optics for optimal performance

  • Your carbine rifle

  • 3+ magazines

  • 200-300 rounds of ammo (cheap range ammo is fine; brass cased recommended)

  • Personal gear: eye & ear protection, billed cap, close-toed shoes

  • Tactical gear: war-belt, vest, or plate carrier with min of 3 magazine pouches, tactical rifle sling (not a parade or hunting sling)

  • Cleaning kit


Carbine 2

Who This Class Is For: Carbine shooters with some experience who want to hone their skills in rifle handling and multiple target shooting.

Prerequisite: Carbine 1 or equivalent from a reputable instructor in past 12 months

 Carbine 2 is the second building block in becoming an proficient defensive shooter. In this course we will refresh the fundamentals of marksmanship and move right into rapid engagement of multiple targets from 3 to 50 yards. Warm up for this class will be an abbreviated qual course from rifle level 1. If you can effectively engage a 4” circle from 5 yards, a 9”circle from 10 yards, and an IDPA target from 15 yards, you should be ready for pistol level 2.

 For the safety and class quality of all classes with prerequisites, the classes will start with a diagnostic test of each student. If anyone fails to meet the minimum safety or skill requirements required for effective learning in that class, that person will be asked to forgo the class at that time, have their payment refunded, and be invited to learn with us in a class appropriate to their level.
